Our Kindergarten daycare program offers a more formal classroom setting that builds upon educational foundations. Structured and comprehensive, we design our curriculum with High Scope, Reggio, and Ontario Ministry guidelines as we introduce our learners to age-appropriate topics including languages, art, history, geography, visual art, music, STEM, French, and physical education. The program also includes field trips, designed to help integrate children into settings where they can embrace experiential learning outside a classroom setting.
The kindergarten program is created in a way that is meant to prepare young learners for the structure and routine they will experience in the first grade. This full program helps mold the child to the expectations of more formal education.
Cleaning up after themselves, understanding and completing homework, working within their own workspace and learning collaborative social practices are all part of this program. The importance of independent care and maintenance is emphasized with age-appropriate responsibilities, such as the child’s ownership of their own desk space, cubby, and pencil case.
On top of our academic schedule and integrative educational practices, children in the Kindergarten program are taught the importance of responsibility, organization, self-regulation and caring for their own personal workspace and materials. Experiences, such as field trips aimed at promoting learning in different settings, help children expand their scope of understanding. We put a focus on communication and collaboration, introducing them to, and preparing them for, the core concepts of education including STEM, art, history, geography and literacy. All of which the children will be exposed to in the next phase of their educational journey.
What are the core elements of the Kindergarten Program?
This program reinforces personal responsibility and self-regulation, while the physical classroom setting follows a smaller student-to-teacher ratio capacity than normally expected. We encourage creative development through artistic exploration in a warm and supportive learning environment. In-class activities are designed to encourage independent thought, collaborative communication, development of self-discipline, and a sense of purpose and motivation fueled by the joy of multi-dimensional learning.
